About You and the Role
As a valued member of Zipline’s Flight Operations team in Ghana, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and timely delivery of medical products to health facilities. Working collaboratively with a team of flight operators, your duties will include conducting regular pre-flight inspections, as well as overseeing the launch and recovery of drones (aircraft). Comprehensive training will be provided to enable you to perform routine maintenance on drones and other equipment at our site, ensuring seamless ongoing operations. Your active contribution to enhancing our daily operations and processes will be crucial in supporting the growth of our operations as we continue to scale.
What You’ll Do
- Launch and Recovery:
- Safely assemble drones for 150+ flights, conducting critical checks.
- Communicate effectively with Zipline controllers for flight readiness.
- Launch and disassemble drones upon return to the Distribution Center.
- Maintenance of Drones and Ground Equipment:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled corrective and preventive maintenance.
- Include Aircraft body maintenance, aircraft wing maintenance, etc.
- Troubleshooting:
- Follow troubleshooting guidelines for drones and ground equipment.
- Collaborate with local and USA-based engineering teams to optimize and resolve issues.
- Projects:
- Participate in short-term and long-term projects for scaling drone deliveries and improving operational efficiency.
What You’ll Bring
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering.
- Technical hands-on experience of 1-3 years in an industrial, manufacturing, or power plant setting is advantageous.
- Comfort working in the field and a willingness to be hands-on.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 20 kg) over a 12-hour shift.
- Adaptability to a fast-paced environment and enjoyment of work that is physically engaging.
- Focus and resilience during extended daily flight operations.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Eligibility to work in Ghana.
- Willingness to relocate to our distribution center in Kete-Krachi or Sefwi-Wiawso.
What Else You Need to Know
- Must be willing and able to work nights and weekends.
- Expected to work for more than 45 hours per week.
- Full-time position based at one of our distribution centers in Ghana.
- Relocation to any of our distribution centers in Ghana is required.
