About the Position
This role is responsible for performing a wide range of electrical tasks such as maintenance, installation, diagnostics, repairs, and testing on drilling equipment—specifically Sandvik Pantera Drills Dpi 1500—and other support machinery. All activities must adhere to electrical codes, OEM guidelines, and safety regulations to ensure that mining operations run efficiently and with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to identify potential issues early.
- Execute planned maintenance tasks and generate corresponding work orders in alignment with the maintenance schedule.
- Service and troubleshoot electrical equipment, ensuring reliable operation of drills and support units.
- Ensure that required spare parts are readily available to minimize delays.
- Work toward achieving daily and rotational maintenance benchmarks, including FSAPM, MTBF, and MTTR.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
- Perform daily checks on electrical systems and document all observations.
- Investigate electrical faults thoroughly to determine whether repair or replacement is needed.
- Evaluate issues within the framework of OEM standards and local electrical codes to identify optimal solutions.
- Focus on minimizing equipment downtime and controlling maintenance costs.
Reporting and Documentation
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Submit a daily maintenance report to the immediate supervisor detailing tasks completed.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
- Adhere strictly to Newmont’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and protocols.
- Regularly inspect equipment to detect and mitigate any electrical or minor mechanical hazards.
- Actively participate in scheduled safety meetings and activities.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background
- Certificate in Electrical Engineering or Technician-level qualification (or equivalent).
- Completion of an electrical trade program or recognized apprenticeship.
- Certification from MINCOM as an Inspection Engineer is an added advantage.
Technical and Industry Knowledge
- In-depth understanding of mechanical and electrical maintenance techniques and industry practices.
- Demonstrated experience with servicing Sandvik Pantera Drills Dpi 1500 and related support equipment.
- Familiarity with work management systems, planning, and scheduling tools.
- Competence in using CMMS/ERP software for maintenance tracking.
Work Experience
- At least 3 years of hands-on electrical maintenance experience in a mining equipment environment, ideally involving Sandvik Pantera Drills Dpi 1500.
