Job Position: DEPUTY PHARMACY MANAGER
Reports to: PHARMACY MANAGER
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly – Pharmacy Staff; Indirectly – Wards & Theatre, Dental Unit, Eye Ear and Nose Unit.

  • Pharmacovigilance Activity and Reporting
  • Stock Management Monitoring
  • Customer Communication and Liaison
  • Asset Management (Loss Control)

Responsibilities and duties

  • Provide expert clinical knowledge for medicines both at the ward and outpatient for the optimization of therapy to members in the multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
  • Lead in clinical quality improvement projects, development and implementation of treatment protocols and guidelines for use of medicines.
  • Provide expert advice / direction in the review/ formulation of policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), procedure manuals, work plan and other support systems in managing the operations of the Hospital.
  • Promote optimal pharmacotherapy.
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of medication therapies, assess their effectiveness, and identify potential interactions or adverse effects on patients-specific medications for improvement.
  • Ensure that good clinical governance is integrated in all pharmacy practices and procedures including patient confidentiality and incident reporting.
  • Provide professional advice and counselling services to doctors, patients and the public as may be required from time to time.
  • Participate in and provide input to, hospital infection control programmes as required.

Education and Experience:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree, or equivalent recognized qualification
  • Membership Ghana College of Pharmacists plus any other additional qualification
  • Evidence of good standing with the Pharmacy Council of Ghana.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Previous experience in multidisciplinary management of diseases both chronic and acute care.
  • Computer Literate including knowledge of Hospital Information systems.
  • Ability to engage various stakeholders and must be able to deliver exceptional customer service.
